Drop-in yoga classes, courses, & workshops
Many of you, like me, are closely following news of COVID-19 in Alberta, and, in light of Yoga Alliance’s recent guidelines for yoga teachers and recommendations from Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, I want to keep you informed about steps Ahimsa Yoga with Deanna is taking to promote your health at yoga classes.
Drop-in classes and workshops continue according to the regular schedule, providing you with a healthy means of boosting your immune system and finding calm.
To help prevent the spread of illness, the following changes have already been implemented at this week’s classes and will continue to apply at all classes until further notice:
* Following the suggestions of Yoga Alliance, classes no longer require the use of props (e.g., blocks, belts, etc.). You are, as always, welcome to bring your own props to class. If you opt to use a solid prop (e.g., block or low block) from the prop boxes, disinfectant wipes are now provided for you to wipe down the prop after class.
* Teacher-student physical adjustments will not be made.
* Hand sanitizer (a mix of 70% rubbing alcohol and water) is available near the props.
* As always, soap and water are available in both bathrooms.
* United Church staff are regularly wiping down frequently touched surfaces, such as doorknobs, with disinfectant.
* Our large studio space also provides us with ample room for space between mats.
* If you feel at all under the weather, please stay home. If you are at home and feel well enough to practice, free at-home yoga resources include the YouTube page of my teacher, Lalit Kumar of Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre.
I continue to check in with Alberta Health Services’ recommendations on a regular basis and will share any changes to yoga classes here, on Facebook, and via my mailing list.
I wish you good health and tranquility, and look forward to seeing you on the mat.
Deanna
